Every year, Earth Day reminds us just how incredibly vast, beautiful and fragile the world around us truly is. With natural disasters on the rise and millions of species of wildlife living among us, conservation continues to be the core mission behind many creatives’ work.

Of course our collective appreciation for and actions to preserve this planet should exist outside of this day, but it’s always inspiring to see how brands, non-profits, artists and other creative professionals use the power of striking visuals to illustrate critical and impactful stories about environmental issues.

As is tradition, we scrolled through our Twitter and Instagram feeds to find the best Earth Day content and conversations happening on social media.

Take a look through our list below and let us know how your team is celebrating Earth Day this year (and year-round!). Tag us on Twitter or Instagram (@psforbrands) and share your story.

National Geographic

When it comes to celebrating Earth Day and honoring our planet, National Geographic is always a great place to start. For Earth Day Eve, they kicked off the festivities with a live virtual event, complete with a whole host of bands, artists, speakers, photographers and more – coming together to spread love and awareness for the world we all call home.

We also love their ongoing #ShareYourSpot campaign, calling on their followers to post pictures of places on Earth that inspire them, places people hold dear.

Here is a powerful and beautiful example from indigenous photographer Kiliii Yuyan. Check out the hashtag to see more!

Outrider Foundation

The Outrider Foundation is dedicated to educating people about big global challenges like climate change. Watch their inspiring short film to hear from Tia Nelson, the daughter of Gaylord Nelson, the founder of Earth Day, along with other environmental activists and passionate changemakers pushing for a safe and healthy planet.

Conservation International

The team at Conservation International knows just how vital and essential it is to put in the work to protect nature. All day, for Earth Day, they are hosting Instagram Live sessions to discuss important topics related to conservation, zoology, eco-friendly fashion and more. Tap in to watch their early morning session and visit their page to see the other conversations!

National Aquarium

Our friends at the National Aquarium know a thing or two about caring for ‘the world’s aquatic treasures.’ As their conservation and environmental awareness efforts reach beyond the world of underwater creatures, they’re sharing an awesome thread for Earth Day, complete with actionable tips and takeaways and fantastic illustrations too. Feeding America

As these brands and organizations have shown, Earth Day isn’t all about the beautiful wildlife and stunning scenery around the world. For nonprofits like Feeding America, it’s about educating the public on the importance of combating food waste as it takes a toll on our environment.

International League of Conservation Photographers

If you’re looking for incredible images and special stories related to conservation and the vast number of species that live among us, head over to the International League of Conservation Photographers’ Instagram page. iLCP is always sharing and reposting the work of their fellows, passionate photographers who aim to educate and inspire the world through visual storytelling.

Fjällräven

While Fjällräven may be a clothing and accessory business, they are dedicated to sustainability and always take note of their environmental footprint. Check out their mission and then learn more about their Arctic Fox Initiative and the powerful content they produced for Earth Day and beyond.

“Everything we do has an impact on the environment around us and the people and animals that inhabit it. As an outdoor company, we’re acutely aware of this impact and we do our utmost to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible. And this is a team effort. We consider nature when we design; when we choose one material over another; and when we decide where to produce our clothing and equipment.”

Ben & Jerrys

Time and time again, in the face of injustice, Ben and Jerry’s has been an outspoken ally to the BIPOC community. On Earth Day, their dedication and advocacy continues, highlighting the increasingly worrying issues of climate change and how it not only affects our planet but the health and safety of Black and Brown people around the world. Tap into their tweet to see some recent examples of why it’s so critical to address and combat racial and climate injustice.

Creative Commons

What’s your favorite photo of Earth? Sometimes it’s important to take a step back – or one giant leap for mankind – to really see the grand scheme of things. While we love looking at photos of wildlife, it’s nice to see some #ThrowbackThursday photos from early days of space exploration. Thanks Creative Commons!

Amnesty International

It’s no secret that, for centuries, forests and natural habitats around the world have been impacted and demolished as corporations clear land for agriculture and manufacturing efforts. Check out this story shared by Amnesty International about Mujeres Amazónicas and their fight to protect their indigenous ancestral lands, on Earth Day and every day.
