Baseball is back, and this season, fans will be following along from home rather than the stands. More than ever, we’ll be relying on the game’s best photographers for a window into America’s Pastime – and we’re in good hands.

Baseball’s team of photographers is filled with master storytellers who know how to capture a moment and share it with fans instantly.

“It’s not just about capturing the action, but it’s about knowing when that action might take place,” says Jessica Carroll, Director of MLB Photos.

Jessica and her team are responsible for documenting the history of the game, from moments of peak action to quiet details.

“We have athletes performing at the highest level, and I want our photography to be a reflection of that,” says Jessica. “Our mission is to leverage current technology to deliver high quality images in the moment.”

So how does the MLB Photos team move images from the field out to fans in seconds? Watch Jessica’s keynote conversation from The PhotoShelter Summit for Brands for a detailed inside look at their lightning-fast workflow!

During the sports pause, the team from MLB Photos played a key role in engaging fans with evergreen content from the organization’s archive.

“We’ve been talking to many colleagues over the last few months, and several who have been frustrated by the limited access they’ve had to their archive,” says Jessica. “One of the best things we’ve done is to have our digital content uploaded to our PhotoShelter site (and that’s not just a plug, it’s true). It’s been invaluable to have that content at our fingertips while we’re all working from home – most of us unexpectedly.”

Now, as players take the field for the first time this season, Jessica and her team will run their real-time photo workflow to give fans the feeling of being in the stands – even if, for now, those stands are virtual.
