Hundreds of community college storytellers gathered in Charleston, SC, this week for the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) annual conference. We teamed up with St. Charles Community College Director of Creative Services Ben Munson, Bristol Community College Publications Specialist Andrew Nasser and Bristol Community College Videographer Jonathan Fonseca to lead a photo walk around the Battery, Rainbow Row and some of the most beautiful streets South of Broad.

The attendees at NCMPR know how to tell incredible stories. Every day, they share photos and videos across platforms to catch the eyes of students, prospective students, alumni and more. It’s no surprise that their photos and videos of Charleston are fantastic!

During and after our stroll around Charleston, our photo walkers used the Libris Mobile Uploader App to add all of their photos and videos to one centralized media library so we could share a slideshow and create a video for the city of Charleston. Check out their incredible work!

Congratulations to our winners!

Ben, Jonathan and Andrew shared some fantastic tips before we left for the photo walk, including:

  • Use the rule of thirds to create a sense of movement in your photos
  • If you’re shooting photos and videos at the same time, use Ben’s 90/10 rule – spend 90% of your time shooting photos and 10% shooting videos, or vice versa. Otherwise, you will waste your shoot getting mediocre photos and videos.
  • Shoot from a unique angle. Hold the camera higher or lower than your eye level to capture a new, more compelling perspective.

When we set off, we challenged our photo walkers to follow their tips. We’ve chosen winners for the best close-up, the best streetscape and the best in show! Congratulations to our winners!
