I have Android devices, so I can’t try this out (yet), but tell me, what is the metadata tagging capability of the app? Caopyright and Creator Info? Captions and Keywords? Templates / predefined data sets? How much can I add to a photo before I upload it, so that it arrives in the library “ready to use”?
Hi Chris,
We’re working on an Android app and will make sure you’re the first the hear about it! The app is all about speed and for metadata tagging only supports updating the Gallery Name and IPTC Keywords. You can learn more here: https://getlibris.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/219655087
We can help build out a custom app with more advanced metadata tagging and workflow capabilities based on any client’s specific process.
Jacco (as Kristin is out for a few days;)
Marie here with the Client Services team. I’m also an avid photographer and social media user. You can absolutely use an Android mobile device to transfer your images, tagged with metadata, into a Libris account. If you’re working with freelance photographers, you would simply add them as Contributors to your Libris account. You’d then create Incoming FTP usernames and passwords for them. On their devices, they would download an app that edits image metadata, plus, an app that works as an FTP client. There are several free apps available, but I’d be curious to hear if any other readers have recommendations for Android?
I happen to use an iPhone, so I was using Snapseed (to edit my images), PhotoGene (to edit image metadata), and FTP Sprite (to upload) before we launched our mobile contributor app. If you have any further questions or workflows you’d like to chat with me about, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Thank you Marie. That’s an interesting work-around. I had forgotten about the FTP upload option. I’m going to experiment with that and try to find a metadata app.
