Forbes is reporting on a survey that PhotoShelter conducted in association with the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on the topic of photo storage systems for universities – a seemingly mundane topic, but one where inefficiency reigns king. Not only are photos hard to find and view on current, antiquated systems (or lack thereof), but distributing and tracking approved images is next to impossible for many universities.
Schools with popular athletics are generating gigabytes of images per year, and not taking advantage of the opportunities to monetize those photos by using a system like Libris (by PhotoShelter) to manage and sell these images online to students, alumni and fans.
